In a super-powered world, every organization from governments to criminal syndicates to Walmart has a top-secret skunkworks program or two underway. Armed-robbery convict Jake Slattery agreed to participate in one such program – sponsored by an organization whose name he never learned – in exchange for his freedom from prison.
He found himself bonded to a strength-enhancing exoskeleton with a plasma-spewing tail, and his increased strength gave him the power to run away very quickly when the East Coast Protectors showed up to cut his builders’ funding in a sudden and somewhat explosive way.
