Yes, I’m aware I haven’t posted much lately, and what I have posted has been somewhat virtual-tabletop-centric. With a family member at home who can’t get vaccinated, I’m still largely avoiding in-person gaming in favor of the VTT stuff – though eager to get back to it.
As much as I enjoy building and using terrain, it’s difficult to justify the cost in time, expenses, and storage space when there aren’t really any coherent plans to use it in the near future. That, and my 3d printer has been broken and waiting for me to get around to installing the simultaneous fix and upgrade I ordered months ago.
So my hobby time for most of this year has been devoted to other pursuits, which brings me to the main purpose of this post: to announce the availability of a Mighty Protectors system for Foundry VTT. I’ve been working on building it over the last month or so and it’s reached the point of being functional enough that I’m comfortable releasing it.
(Note: as of this writing it’s not on Foundry’s official list of supported systems due to some questions on the part of the Foundry folks related to the game’s license agreement. I’m in touch with one of MP’s creators and am confident the matter will be resolved quickly.)
For anyone who wants to jump right into it, installing it on a Foundry instance is as simple as going to the Game Systems tab in Foundry, clicking Install System, and pasting this link into the Manifest URL field: https://github.com/drl2/mighty-protectors-fvtt/releases/latest/download/system.json
The project itself is here: https://github.com/drl2/mighty-protectors-fvtt, and the readme file here links to some other documentation: https://github.com/drl2/mighty-protectors-fvtt/blob/master/readme.md .
Vehicles aren’t implemented yet and there are a number of features and options I still plan to add, but it should be functional enough to handle the basics of characters and combat.
And while I’m not generally a fan of Discord as a means of product support, that seems to be the way to do things these days – so I’ve set up a server at https://discord.gg/VU98efBCuP for discussions, suggestions, and bug reports.
I’d also like to point out that while my posts to the main blog have been infrequent, I’ve added a number of resource pages to the site and kept them regularly updated. The items under the “Superhero minis and maps” menu above have ended up being more a catalog of resources for genres other than all fantasy all the time, and will hopefully be of use to players of games across games with more modern settings whether they play on the tabletop or online.
