Since my recent purchase of a resin 3D printer I’ve been churning out a lot of minis, and today I decided to start on painting some of them. This is something of a challenge for me – I’m an inexperienced painter with probably not the steadiest hand or the best eye for detail, so I expected my initial results wouldn’t be immediately satisfying.
I’d picked up a couple of the new, expensive, contrast paints to tinker with, and had decided to paint some of the brown and gray onto a few minis as an experiment to see how they turned out. I would dribble a bit of the colors out onto a wet palette as needed and brush them on. At some point when I was going to get a little more out of one of the containers, I decided to shake it up first… and learned the hard way how to tell if those little Citadel paint pots are sealed correctly.
Mine was not.
When your pricey contrast paint spills, suddenly every mini in sight (and a few from another room) seems like it could benefit from some Basilicanum Gray…
(A lot of them came out darker than I wanted, so I’m going to have to learn to do some small-scale dry-brushing.)
